+HOLDING GOLD (c, 2, Lonhro {Aus}–In the Gold {GISW, $745,617}, by Golden Missile) made his debut a winning one Sunday afternoon with a rallying score in the opener at Woodbine, becoming the first North American winner for his sire. Away to a sharp start, the 4-1 shot took back to track the pace set by More Mia (Mass Media) behind fractions of :21 4/5 and :44 4/5. Confidently handled turning for home, he angled out and rallied to post a comfortable 2 1/4-length victory over favored Majestic Slew (Majestic Warrior), with More Mia hanging on for third. The winner’s dam carried the Live Oak colors to victory in the GI Gazelle S. in 2005. The winner is the fifth for his Northern Hemisphere freshman sire (by Octagonal {NZ}). In the Gold produced a filly by Elusive Quality in 2014 and her dam, Incinerate (Groovy), captured the GII Bed o’Roses H. This is also the extended family of MGISW Judy the Beauty (Ghostzapper), who landed the GI Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint and the GI Madison S. en route to champion female sprinting honors in 2014. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $25,856. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
